If you travel a lot in nature, by bike or on foot, then you probably know the tour app komoot. The platform offers thousands of route suggestions for excursions thanks to the active community. The software also allows you to plan your own tours.

In the last few years, more and more e-bikes have appeared on the roads and cycle paths alongside non-motorized bicycles and mountain bikes. In line with this, komoot offers some practical features to make your “E-Tour” even better. As an e-bike owner, you should know the following tips.

Both in the app and on komoot’s website, it is possible to plan tours specifically for e-bikes. If you are in the route planning, first select that you are traveling by bicycle. Then you can select the option “E-bike” activate.

Here you have the option to select different e-bike bike types. In addition to “Bike are also “racing bike, “Mountain Bike”, “Gravelbike” and “MTB-Enduro to choose from.

The e-bike option is currently only available for self-planned tours, routes from the community or from the provider itself remain unaffected. However, there is a trick. You can simply select the option “Plan similar tour” for an existing tour.

The “e-bike” can also be connected to the cradle select. But keep in mind that the tour is not optimized for your electric bike. So it is a good idea to plan a route yourself. All you have to do is select a start and end point and, if necessary, select the option “To&” Way Back” set.

If you are planning a longer tour, you should make sure that the battery will last until the end. On long distances this can easily become a problem. Therefore, our tip is to plan charging stations for your e-bike into the tour.

In komoot you can already find some charging stations, which you can include in your route planning. You can simply have the charging stations displayed on your route. The number of charging stations is still expandable.

You should therefore still use specialized apps to search for charging stations and then add them as additional waypoints in komoot. We link you below, some applications that you can use to find the charging stations.

The linked apps can all be used free of charge. The offer of charging stations differs partly, so feel free to try several applications and check which one is best for your region.

Komoot also cooperates with e-bike manufacturers and thus enables the connection between the app and the bike computer. The service supports Bosch Kiox and Bosch Nyon, as well as compatible e-bikes from Specialized, Flyer, Cobi and Yamaha.

If you use your own GPS devices on your e-bike, you can often use komoot with them as well. The outdoor specialist enables connection to GPS system from Garmin, Wahoo, Sigma, Lezyne, Hammerhead, Ciclo, Bryton, Meilan, TwoNav as well as Mio, among others.
