Due to the current world situation, logistics companies are encountering unprecedented, multi-faceted challenges that are affecting the global transportation of goods more than ever before.
WiseTech Global's software offering enables many of the largest logistics companies to connect with each other and the rest of the world. That's why developers at WiseTech have a direct impact on how goods are transported from one place to another, across borders. This includes, but is not limited to, much needed medical equipment and protective gear.
It's never been more important for our customers to use our software, and it's never been more exciting for our team to provide it to our customers.
With this in mind, we are always looking for passionate, curious and ambitious people who want to make a valuable contribution and create real change.
Do you want to solve complex problems with global relevance? Here are my top tips for a successful application to WiseTech.
Write an outstanding resume
Every* software developer applying to WiseTech should mention the following in their resume: If you are still studying, it would be worth mentioning if you have contributed to GitHub or open source projects, or even what relevant school/study projects you have already been involved in. If you run a personal website or have an account with Stack Overflow, these may also be mentioned.
You should not list any type of technology that you have had only brief exposure to. Instead, it is a good idea to list the technologies that you are really confident with and can talk about casually. If there are areas where you would like to learn more, you can also mention this and also tell us openly: "I am very interested in technology XY, but so far know quite little about it". It is also important to express yourself clearly. What have you achieved? What accomplishments are you most proud of? What are your areas of expertise?
Tell us why you would like to work here.
We are looking for people who want to be part of us and our story. Your resume should therefore make your motivations clear, and show us why you want to work at WiseTech. We want to understand why you are applying for this position, why WiseTech seems like the right employer for you, and what you hope to achieve in your career.
Who are you really?
In addition to technical knowledge and experience, curiosity is an important quality we always look for when hiring software developers. We're looking for people who aren't satisfied with something working, but want to know why and how it works, and then make it work even better. What we are really looking for is a curious mindset, a desire to learn new things and solve problems, and the ability to think outside the box. Tell us about the programming competition you participated in during your free time, or a complex problem you solved just for fun.
We want our contributors to show their true essence, so don't be afraid to tell us what really makes you tick.
